Guiding Principles

When Governments get things wrong, it is always those people who get on and do the right thing who pay the heaviest price. When you work hard, seeing the something for nothing culture reward those who don't, embeds unfairness in our system. Blue Collar Conservatism is based on the simple belief that our system must work for those who do the right thing and not work against them either through misguided ideology or systemic failures.

A Britain which does not work for working people, simply does not work.

Living within our means

Politicians need to drop the fiction that public spending and the state can continue to grow or even continue at current levels. When the house of cards of unlimited spending, debt and tax rises comes crashing down, working people will pay the price. We need a smaller state focused on the priorities of working people.

Real austerity is not reducing state spending, it is families unable to afford the essentials.

Education linked to work

Labour is currently vandalising our education system and lowering standards to satisfy their left wing agenda.   We must reset the goal of education to align with work. Education is about setting our kids up for the rest of their lives and we must give them the best chance to succeed.   We need to build a workforce of the future if we are to compete globally so that opportunity is here and not abroad.

Education must be infused with personal responsibility. Demonstrating to our young people that the decisions they are taking will shape their future.

A House as a Stake in Society

Every party say they will build, but all fall short.  Even when politicians say all the right things on housing, why should anyone trust them? The right to buy showed that a house is the biggest stake in society we can have. We need to get building. Ending mass migration, reforming planning and using tax incentives to encourage builders should all be in play.

We must ensure a house isn’t out of reach for someone who works hard anywhere in the country.

Lower Taxes for Workers

With every turn of the screw Labour is showing the unfairness of tax. Taxes were too high under the Conservatives, but its getting so much worse. Whether its direct taxation or the perverse impacts of indirect taxes, we must get back to the principle that people should keep more of their money.

With billions wasted on asylum hotels or net zero its never been more true that people know how to spend their money better than the state.

Proper Policing

Our streets are less safe. Items in our shops are placed behind perspex as shoplifting becomes normalised. Our concerns over foreign born criminals are dismissed. Confidence in our cops is eroded by two tier policing and  prioritising non-crime over real crime. Lets get policing back to the priorities of ordinary people. Prison must be  a deterrent, with no leniency for persistent offenders. Criminals must fear the law and be dealt with severely.

Punish those who break the law and ensure everyone feels safe in their communities.

Work Over Welfare

Working must always pay more than not working. Our benefits bill has spiralled and is deeply unfair on those who work to pay for it. We need to reduce the welfare bill dramatically. Benefits must only be for those in real need. We must end all payments to non-citizens. End mass migration which encourages low wages, which the state then subsidies.

Resetting Britain means controlling welfare and championing the empowerment that work brings.

Relentless Priorisation of Jobs

Big, small and everything in between we want businesses to create jobs. So lets start by cutting taxes on those jobs! Cut taxes on wealth creators so they don't take their jobs abroad. We want the right person for the job, not woke targets. We should be optimistic about emerging tech as we want the jobs of tomorrow created here!

In our hyper competitive world Britain must be the best place in the world to do business, invest and grow.

Migration by Public Consent

Both the scale and speed of legal migration and how we deal with illegal immigrants through so called 'asylum' have lost public consent. A radical reset is needed of immigration and asylum. Controlling borders is a matter of national security. Immigration as a state subsidy for low wages must end.  Illegal entrants & foreign criminals must be deported immediately. Scrap indefinite leave to remain.

Migration, the associated costs and changes to our communities must be by public consent.

Rules Fit for the Real World

Trust in society requires a belief that the system is fair. Right now the UK does not work for those who do the right thing. We need to leave the ECHR and dismantle the Blair era legal frameworks which benefit only leftie lawyers and activist judges. From crime to migration they lead to  perverse decisions without public consent.

We must reset our system based on the principle that those who make laws are answerable to the people.
